Learn How to Avoid Common Affiliate Marketing Mistakes

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

Affiliate marketing is a great way for a person to earn money online, and it’s also one of the most popular ways in the internet world today. When a person creates an affiliate marketing program, they are creating a contract between them and a merchant that they know quite a bit about as well as trusting the company. The more you know about a company the more money you will make. More often website owners make mistakes when starting out in affiliate marketing, mistakes that cost them lots of revenue. Here are a few of the more common mistakes that they make and how to avoid them.

1. Promoting products you are not familiar with-

When you are trying to earn a revenue with affiliate marketing you do not want to choose a merchant you know nothing about. When you do this, you have no knowledge of the company and therefore can’t promote it enough for a person to click on the link. Remember, marketing depends on those clicks. The more clicks to a merchant site the more chance to earn money from it. You need to find a product that you are familiar with as well as trust. Also, doing research on the product allows you an even greater chance to promote their product. The better you can promote the business, the more likely the visitor will click on the links which in turn will you money.

2. Low quality products-

Another common mistake that most new affiliate marketers do is promote low quality products. If you have a merchant in mind but they provide lower quality results or goods, do not use them as it will not earn you money. When a visitor clicks on a merchant link, they are looking for a good quality product not a poor one. This is where your research comes into play. You need to research the quality as well as the company to find that perfect product to advertise on your site.

3. Website that only sells-

Avoid creating your website to sell only the products that you are promoting as you will not get many visitors. Instead, create a website that also informs the visitor about a certain topic or idea. The more creative your topic or idea the more traffic you will generate. Try and avoid using too many links in your site as well as this will overburden your visitor. Great website content is the key to earning your revenue as it will generate a lot more visitors to your site to click those links.

4. Selling too many-

When you are new to the affiliate marketing program, you do not want to sell too many sites/products too early. This will only cause your site to fail and you to burn out. Instead try promoting two, maybe three, but no more than three merchants at a time. As your traffic increases you can add more merchants, but do not go overboard.

5. Lie

DO NOT EVER LIE to your visitors because it will backfire on you. Do not promote a product you would not buy yourself with a rave review because then you would be lying to your visitors. Be honest with your readers and they will respect you more and return to your site over and over again.

6. Don’t Ever Give Up-

A lot of affiliate marketers, especially the newer ones, give up too early. They find themselves not earning a profit right away and get discouraged. Just like in real life, making money (lots of it) takes a lot of time and effort. It can take months to begin showing a profit but if you give up you will miss out.

These are just a few of the mistakes to avoid when you are creating your affiliate marketing site. Learning how to avoid these mistakes is the key to a great revenue making system. Affiliate marketing can create tons of cash for you if it is done correctly.

Affiliate Marketing 101 – Explained in Detail

Saturday, February 18th, 2012

Affiliate Marketing is a newer concept of the internet world today. Affiliate Marketing is a revenue venture between you, the website owner, and an online retailer of your choice. When you do this type of marketing all you have to basically due is place advertisements on your website that your visitors will click on. These advertisements will help the retailer that you choose, to either sell their product or promote it.

When your visitors click on these sites, you will earn a percentage of the total profit made. This profit can be anywhere from a penny to a few dollars. There are three different ways that you can use affiliate marketing as an income source.

1. Pay Per-Click

Each time a client clicks on an advertising link in your website, you will get a percentage of that click. This percentage as stated before can be anywhere from a penny to a few dollars. The commission that you receive really depends on the product that is being sold or promoted, or the total commission the advertising site made.

Pay per click is extremely popular among bloggers. They create their blogs along a certain topic then they find websites to advertise that goes along with their niche. The most popular place to locate these types of businesses to advertise on your blog is clickbank.

2. Pay Per Sale

Every time a sale is made, from the link on your site, on the website that you are advertising, you will receive cash. This cash can be a percentage or commission depending on the sale. This cash will be placed into your account or a check will be sent directly to your home address.

3. Pay Per Lead

When a visitor clicks on a link in your website and signs up on the merchant’s site, a certain amount of money will be placed in your account. This amount is a sum that you and the merchant have agreed upon when you placed their business on your site.

These are all a great way for any web owner to make some extra cash. You can even earn money while you’re away from your computer. All you have to do is place a merchant site advertisement on your website and you are well on your way to making money online. You will not have to do any selling, but site promotion is a must. Just advertise the business then sit back and collect your cash.

Not only is affiliate marketing great for the website owner it’s also great for the merchant that you’re advertising for. This gives the merchant a form of free advertising.

Another great advantage to the merchant is they will not have to do a lot of selling themselves either. The more websites a merchant places his add on the more business he will receive with little or no effort at all.

Although affiliate marketing has great advantages there are also some cons. One of the first cons is that the merchant still has to pay you a percentage for each sale you make for them; which means they are still spending some money on advertising. If you, the web owner, use unethical ways to promote the merchants business, you will not only look bad, but so will the merchant.

The cons on the web owners side is for one; you will need to do extensive research on the merchant that you choose. You need to make sure they are a legitimate business as well as being able to know something about the niche you are promoting.

Despite the cons, affiliate marketing is a great way for you as a web owner to earn some great cash.

Six Steps to Creating a Great Affiliate Marketing Website

Saturday, February 18th, 2012

Affiliate marketing is a great way for a person to earn money online without doing much of anything. When you practice in affiliate marketing, you are creating a revenue for yourself, the web owner, by promoting a merchant from your website or blog. When you become an affiliate marketer, you have the potential to make anywhere from 10% to 60% commission on each sale that is made from a customer clicking on your link to the merchant.

If you’re serious about wanting to become one of the many that are making a lot of money being an affiliate marketer, you will first need a good website to place your advertisements. You can be an affiliate marketer without a website but your profits will not be as much as it would if you did. Here are a few basic steps that you can use to create your very own affiliate marketing website.

1. Domain Name

When you’re beginning any website, you’ll need a good domain name. It should be a name that is easy for you to remember as well as attract visitors to your site. Your domain name should also be one that goes with the type of website you are looking at creating. Your domain name should also be SEO friendly so that the search engine webcrawlers can attach themselves to your site.

The richer keywords you use in your domain name the higher in the search engines your web page will appear. There are software tools available that can assist you in creating your domain name if need be.

2. Choose the Niche of your site

Your site should be of something that you know a lot about. It should not only be a passion of yours but also a passion that can be marketable on the internet. The Niche that you choose for your site should attract the visitors’ time and again to keep the internet marketing going.

3. Content

You need to have content related to the topic you are building your site around. Do not just fill your site full of boring ads and pay per clicks because that will only chase your visitors away. Your content should be keyword rich as well. The more keyword rich your site is, the more visitors will visit your site and as a result, the more money you will make.

To make a great affiliate marketing website you need to also provide information about the merchants you’re advertising for in your content. This will make the visitor click on the link to visit the merchant and as a result you will make money.

4. Traffic

You need to make sure you keep the traffic to your site coming. Make sure you make your site keyword rich as possible. The more keywords you have in the content portion and domain name as well, the higher on the search engines you will be. This will keep the traffic going to your site and your affiliate marketing campaign will continue to run. If you fail to keep the traffic coming, you will fail at your marketing campaign.

5. Tracking tools

Put tracking tools within your website. This will give an idea of how many visitors a day you are averaging on your site and where they are coming from. If your visitors begin to decline, you may need to change your content to drive them back in.

6. Find your advertisers

The final step in building your site is to find the merchants you want to promote on your marketing site. The more merchants you have on your site, betters your chances of making more money. You can go to places such as clickbank to find your merchants you want to promote.

There you have it, your website is now up and running. Now all you have to do is wait for the visitors to come and your money will begin to come in. Affiliate marketing is an excellent way to make money online with a great website.

Three Key Factors to Become Successful With Affiliate Marketing

Saturday, February 18th, 2012

Affiliate marketing is the newest way for a person to earn money from the comforts of your own home. It’s rapidly growing in popularity throughout the world due to the ease of getting it up and running. Affiliate marketing is a form of revenue that is created when you, “the web owner” enters into an agreement with a merchant to advertise their product on your site.

Every time a visitor clicks on the link in your site you make money. The amount of money you make from this click can be anywhere from a few cents to a few dollars. There are a few simple and easy steps that you can use to become successful at your internet marketing career.

1. Audiences

The most important key to success is to know your audience. If you do not know your audience then you can set yourself up for failure fairly quick. You need to be able to build a relationship with your audience in order to make the money through the clicks. If your audience does not know you well or know your reputation, they will probably not click on your links.

In order to target your audience you need to do research on the type of audience that you are looking at attracting to your site. You can also check through various demographics to decide what audiences to the internet are regularly searching for. Having an open relationship with your audience is a great key to success with affiliate marketing.

2. Be Open

When you are first starting out in your intertnet marketing program, you need to be discreet about the details. You need to first build your reputation of being honest and ethical before you can actually begin advertising the businesses. There are some people out there that build their site right away and are not honest and as a result fail in the first week. You need to be honest about the programs you are promoting. You also need to be able to trust the product yourself in order to endorse it the right way.

3. Choices

Another key to success in the affiliate marketing program is choosing products that are right for you. You do not want to look for programs that have worked for other marketing programs because what may work for them may not work for you. Take your time and study the merchants that are available and choose one that you believe in, not just the first one that pops into mind. Taking time with your choices can build you an excellent career with your program.

Affiliate marketing is a great way for you to make money online but learning how to do it successfully is the key. Just remember to not jump into all the hype. Make sure you ask around and research the niche you want to be involved with and things should go rather smoothly when your ready to begin. Following these three simple and easy steps can help you become successful in your affiliate marketing endeavors.

Ways to Earn Cash on the Internet

Saturday, February 18th, 2012

When it comes to making an info-product, there are 2 types of tactics to choose from. You can either be creative or innovative. Creative means, you look at the market and come up with a good solution.

In effect, it is coming up with an info-product that will solve an existing problem. Say for example, you realize that people have a problem with writing articles, then you invent something like a rewriter software.

Or let’s say, if you know that many individuals are trying to plan their joint venture’s details, you can invent a joint venture profile software. Basically, you’ll be the first individual to sell in the market. Make sense?

But if you want to lower your risk of failing and make money faster, I’ll want to be an innovator. Observe the existing products created to fulfill the demand of a market. See how good the sales volume is. In that case, I’ll be an innovator to supply better solution or tap on the existing opportunity.

Not sure what this means?

Let me explain …

You may have noticed that there are lots of sales letter generator in the market, this is because of the innovative marketers that are creating them. PayDotCom, a relatively new company, is another example of an innovator market that gives the same service as Clickbank.

PayDotCom was create after the company Clickbank was launched When it comes to giving credit card processing service with built-in affiliate tracking program, Clickback was the first to provide such. Now, there are more innovative marketers that have created an affiliate tracking tool that can be incorporated with other credit card processors like Paypal, 2checkout, authorize, and the like.

Innovative marketing doesn’t limit to duplicating what is successful and trying to be better, larger or cheaper. That’s a very narrow observation on how to make money and it will normally fail. You will alter the whole profit model by adding these 2 ingredients which are as follows:

1. Looking for an angle

Looking for an angle means positioning yourself unique from those who made it first. For Instance, Clickbank is a success. However other affiliate tracking tools that did not have a built-in credit card processor were very successful as well by tying up with third party credit card company. A good example of this, is again, PayDotCom.

2. Complimenting with the pioneer

Make an info-product that can ride on the existing successful market. For discussion purposes, let’s take for instance Clickbank. There are countless new tools made to improve the ease of using Clickbank.

Examples are: Software to handle your Clickbank.com affiliates; Software to pull-out your Clickbank sales report into a Microsoft Excel file; Software to create Clickbank search engine tool that is integrated with Clickbank ID;Instructional videos on how to setup Clickbank.com account; and so much more.

Observe what’s happening on the internet.Make a decision whether you want to become a creative or innovative marketer. Then, ACT NOW!

The Benefits Of Establishing Your Affiliate System

Saturday, February 18th, 2012

Affiliate marketing is a great way to generate additional business above and beyond what you do on a normal day to day situation. Affiliate marketing generates a great deal of traffic and therefore can boost your sales far beyond your current level via sales by third parties and various other sites.

How difficult is it to set up your own site? Well, that depends on the number of affiliates that you may recruit and what product you are selling. Another factor that you will want to look at is the the type of payment policy that you will be using towards your affiliates.

Now, there are two main systems that you can use when it comes to affiliate marketing. You can outsource everything or you can run your own affiliate marketing business via your own web host. There are advantages and disadvantages to either direction you choose to go.

Most people can run their own software if they have a relatively small number of affiliates. But if you plan to go big time and recruit a lot of affiliates, then outsourcing may be the best way to go. By doing this it will be much easier to deal with the volume that you will be faced with. This includes sign ups, tracking all of your payments and a better method of monitoring clicks.

*TYPES OF AFFILIATES*

There are numerous types of affiliate marketers. One of these is the pay-per-sale type. In this type, the affiliate only makes money when a sale has been made. This is not one of the more attractive types of affiliate marketing. The exception to this is if you are dealing with a high priced product.

The next type is the pay-per-lead. In this type the affiliate only makes money if the person clicking on the ad, is turned into a bona fide lead toward a sale. This can be a very costly type of affiliate marketing due to non sales.

The final type is pay-per-click. In this type the affiliate makes money each time an ad on their site has been clicked on. This is perhaps the most popular type but you may not make the most money with this type.

When setting up an affiliate program there are many things that you will have to consider. One of those things is how you want to compensate your affiliates. This is something that takes careful consideration and can help to determine how successful you become at this type of marketing.

By doing some research you can determine which system that you will want to use. But keep in mind that you want to monitor your affiliates closely. The type of affiliate marketing you choose will help to determine how easily those people can be monitored. So, keep that in mind as you do your research.

Whichever way you decide to go, keep in mind that this type of marketing is extremely successful and when you operate it correctly, you can come out on top.

Using Ad Variations With Google Adsense For Your Website

Saturday, February 18th, 2012

I’ve been using Google Adsense for years and I’ve learned a lot about how the variations in your Adsense units can affect your overall revenue. Two types of ad units that are very popular with Google Adsense are “link units” and “themed ad units”. Never heard of those before? Well let me explain. These two ad unit types are used to focus ads based on the content of your website or for special occasions. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg …

Let’s start off with “themed ad units”. What are these all about? These types of ads can be used on your website to promote special occasions. For example, you can have ads that will display products around Christmas time, Valentine’s Day, New Year’s Day, etc. You can consider these types of ads as “occasion specific” and are focused on particular themes at particular times of the year.

Now bear in mind of course that these ads will only appear if they are available from your advertisers. If there are no ads that are “occasion specific” then other ads may appear on your site – but this of course all depends on your Adsense settings. You would also need to bear in mind that the ads that appear for these occasions are “location specific”. After all, not every country in the world puts high priority on occasions like Christmas, Valentine’s Day, New Year’s, etc, so don’t expect these ads to show up in every location where your website is viewed. Keep these things in mind if you intend to use “theme ad units” on your website. Now let’s look at “link units” and see what they can do for you.

Depending on the placement of your ads and the content of your pages, you may wish to use “link units” as a viable alternative. The first difference that you would notice with “link units” compared to other ad units is that you would not get paid when a user initiates a click on this ad unit (it simply opens up a new page with ads), you would get paid however if a user clicks on any of the ads in the new ad page – in other words, a user has to initiate two (2) steps in order for you to get paid. Now some webmasters may think that giving the user this “extra step” is a waste of time, but in reality, this is a way of ensuring that the user is really interested in the ad being offered – and that they did not simply click on it by accident (hey, it happens sometimes.

Because these link unit results are based on a specific topic that the user wishes to view (because they clicked on your link unit ad first) the resulting ads displayed are more meaningful to the user. This ad unit is very useful if you have webpages that focus on specific topics. So look at your webpages and see which ones would benefit from “link unit” ads.

So what do you think about Google’s ad unit structure. Does it work for you? What strategies do you use? Do you use Google Adsense or do you use another company? I’d love to hear your views about this topic.

Diversifying Your Income

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

One of the essential things you must know with your website is that you need to expand your income.

Supposing most of your ads are with Google AdSense. Let’s suppose it makes up 90% of your website’s earnings. Let’s suppose Google will suspend your account! What would you do if you lose 90% of your website’s profit? Can you recover immediately? For most individuals, they would not.

Therefore if you have a website, diversify your earnings by not only utilizing Pay Per Click sponsors, but perhaps use a Direct Leads sponsor, a CPA sponsor, or even promote other products or services and get paid a commission per sale.

One of the simplest ways for an internet newbie to start earning cash in the internet that is fast and easy is through CPA (cost per action) Marketing! In order for you to bring in money, this style of affiliate marketing requires the consumers to complete a particular action that the advertisers would want them to do.

So how does CPA Affiliate Marketing work and, more importantly, how do you make money from it!

In essence, you are a traffic broker and CPA networks acts as the middlemen. For the leads you make, you get a commission from that particular advertiser. The major difference with the usual affiliate marketing and Cost per Action marketing is that there is no need to make prior sales to get the commission. You have to simply convince the internet surfers to click on your advertisement and act as the advertiser would like them to do, such as signing up for a sample product or make an email subscription. Because a surfer doesn’t have to buy anything, and in fact even have a chance to obtain a sample product or a free trial, it is actually easier for them to fill out a form or make an email subscription. CPA networking often makes conversions a lot simpler . One problem with it though is that CPA marketing can be highly competitive.

Opening other websites is another way of multiplying one’s profit. At present, I have quite a few websites that I build profit from. Roughly 4 months back, Google banned one of my sites from their search engine! Among internet marketers, this is a common occurrence. It seems that my site had several outgoing links to sponsor ads and they regard it a “link farm”. But that site at the time was earning me something like $1000 per month. Imagine what could have happened if I didn’t have my other websites to pick up the slack?

Having them on different servers is another way of increasing your online earnings. These days, it’s cheap to host a website. Let’s suppose you throw one or two of them up on a $5.99 a month server and pay for a year’s worth of hosting, then you’re on the right track. Not only does it have search engine benefits, but if one of your servers should go down, not all of your sites are down at once.

If you want to earn the most money online then you certainly need to broaden your income streams.
